Sesame Chicken In Orange Sauce (ga Me Sot Cam)

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless chicken breasts, cut into small cubes
  • 1 tbsp. flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. pepper
  • ½ tsp. sugar
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tbsp. fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • ½ tsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ cup onion, coarsely chopped
  • Zest from one orange
  • 2 tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 1 orange, sliced ¼ inch thick
  • snow peas (optional)

Preparation:

  • Toss the chicken with the flour, salt, pepper, and ½ tsp. sugar
  • Set aside for 10 minutes
  • In a small saucepan, mix orange juice, fish sauce, honey and cornstarch
  • Heat over medium heat until mixture thickens
  • Heat the oil in a sauté pan until hot
  • Sauté garlic and onion until light brown
  • Add chicken, orange zest and sesame seeds
  • Stir-fry until golden brown
  • Pour orange sauce over chicken, add orange slices and simmer over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes
  • To serve: place chicken in a serving dish, arranging the orange slices attractively on top
  • Serve with rice & snow peas

Notes:

  • we enjoyed this recipe, and would make it again.
  • the snow peas were not part of the original recipe, but we think it adds a nice touch... broccoli might also be a good alternative.
