Cinnamon Raisin Bread

"the aroma of toasted cinnamon bread - what better way to ensure everyone arrives at the breakfast table with a smile?"

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup skim milk powder
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. shortening
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp. bread machine yeast
  • 3/4 cup raisins

Preparation:

  • measure all ingredients except raisins into baking pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
  • insert pan into the oven chamber
  • select sweet cycle
  • add raisins at "add ingredients" signal.

Notes:

  • i replace the shortening with butter
  • tip: for a stronger cinnamon flavor, serve with a cinnamon sugar spread. do not increase the cinnamon called for in the recipe of the loaf will be short.
  • variation: for an interesting taste treat, add 1/4 cup chopped walnuts with the raisins.
