Bread Machine
Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
3 1/3 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. bread machine yeast
Topping:
1 - 2 tbsp. melted butter
1 - 2 tbsp. sesame seeds
Preparation:
measure ingredients into baking pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
insert pan into the oven chamber
select
dough cycle
.
remove dough to a lightly floured surface; cover with a large bowl and let rest for 10 to 15 minutes
divide the dough into 6 equal portions.
form into slightly flattened 12-inch (30cm) long buns
place on a baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal
cover and let rise in a warm, draft-free place for 30 to 45 minutes, until doubled in volume.
brush with 1 to 2 tbsp. melted butter
sprinkle with 1 to 2 tbsp. sesame seeds. (seeds will toast as the buns bake)
bake in oven preheated to 350 for 15 minutes, or until buns sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Notes:
our bread machine broke halfway through making the dough, so it didn't turn out quite right.
thankfully the buns were still edible.
