Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup plain yogurt (150 ml)
- 1/4 cup melted butter (50 ml) (optional)
- 1/2 tsp almond extract (2 ml)
- 2 apples, peeled and thinly sliced

- 3 tbsp sliced blanched almonds (45 ml)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (25 ml)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Preparation:
- in bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- in separate bowl, beat eggs; stir in yogurt, butter and almond extract.
- stir wet ingredients into flour mixture just until combined.
- pour into greased 9-inch (2.5L) springform pan.
- arrange apples over batter.
- combine almonds, sugard and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
- bake in 350F (180C) oven for 1 hour

If butter is omitted, each serving is approx. 230 calories
