italian herb bread
i agreed to make a bread to go along with a spaghetti meal i was making, excpect for that I realised that I didn't have the time to make a regular bread (about 4 hours), so i did a quick interenet search and found this recipe for a rapid bread. although it looked and smelled good... i never did personally try it, so I hope it turned out.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup plus 2 Tbsp warm water
- 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 cups bread flour
- 2 1/2 Tsp bread machine yeast
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp mixed Italian Herbs
Preparation:
- Put ingredients except for egg and herbs into the bread machine container in the order in which your bread machine suggests.
- Make a well in the center for the yeast and poke a hole in one corner of the flour and insert one unbeaten egg, keeping it away from the yeast well.
- Add yeast, if not already added and then sprinkle the herbs over the top.
- Set to bake for a cycle that completes in about an hour.
- This is for a Sunbeam Breadmaker and I have had no experience with other machines.
- However, I got the idea of this from a non-Sunbeam bread book and adapted to the Sunbeam.
Note:
- the original recipe called for 2 1/2 tbsp of yeast... I changed this to 2 1/2 tsp. instead
- also i added 1/2 tsp. salt.
