sesame chicken in orange sauce (ga me sot cam)
Ingredients:

1 pound boneless chicken breasts, cut into small cubes
- 1 tbsp. flour
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. pepper
- ½ tsp. sugar
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp. fish sauce
- 1 tbsp. honey
- ½ tsp. cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ cup onion, coarsely chopped
- Zest from one orange
- 2 tbsp. sesame seeds
- 1 orange, sliced ¼ inch thick
- snow peas (optional)
Preparation:
- Toss the chicken with the flour, salt, pepper, and ½ tsp. sugar
- Set aside for 10 minutes
- In a small saucepan, mix orange juice, fish sauce, honey and cornstarch
- Heat over medium heat until mixture thickens
- Heat the oil in a sauté pan until hot
- Sauté garlic and onion until light brown
- Add chicken, orange zest and sesame seeds
- Stir-fry until golden brown
- Pour orange sauce over chicken, add orange slices and simmer over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes
- To serve: place chicken in a serving dish, arranging the orange slices attractively on top
- Serve with rice & snow peas
Notes:
- we enjoyed this recipe, and would make it again.
- the snow peas were not part of the original recipe, but we think it adds a nice touch... broccoli might also be a good alternative.
