Since the water levels have been low, decided it would be a great time to explore the stromatolites in the Ottawa river. Explored more area than I've ever been able to in previous years. The water was calm today so made for nice reflections. FYI - Stromatolites are layered, sedimentary bio-structures built by cyanobacteria and other microorganisms in shallow water environments, which trap and cement sand and other rocky materials into mats. These ancient structures, literally meaning "layered rock," are considered the oldest life forms on Earth, dating back over three billion years, and are credited with producing the oxygen that would make the planet habitable for complex life.
