The trip from Moncton to Ottawa is about 12 hours in length. this time we decided to take in a few sights during the trip back to make it more interesting...
before getting started, a quick stop at the biggest 'big stop' to fuel up
back on the road and ready to face the new brunswick morning rush hour.
first stop...
the town of nackawic, new brunswick... home of the world's largest axe
next stop...
a quick hello to the farmer outside of the potato house
hartland, new brunswick
home of the world's longest covered bridge.
a quick stop for coffee, and back on the road...
the last roll up the rim to win of the season but we didn't win anything :-(
our next stop florenceville, new brunswick
(good thing there was a sign or we would have ended up in the water)
maintaining a covered bridge is difficult and since hartland had it already covered,
florenceville went for a different claim to fame.
florenceville... the french fry capital of the world.
grand falls, new brunswick
since it was early spring... the flood gates were open and the falls were indeed grand.
the last stop in new brunswick, the botanical gardens near edmonston
(the garden was not yet open for the season... therefore this is the only photo)
our first stop in quebec...
saint-louis-du-ha!-ha!
we pulled into a rest stop for a first look at the region of le bas st-laurent
The area looked so interesting that we decided to take the scenic route along the st. lawrence river instead of staying on the highway. the following are some of the pictures we took along the way:
not really sure what the tractor is doing out in the middle of the st-lawrence?!?
St. Denis Quebec
one of the many churches we saw throughout quebec
The following pictures were taken at the Madrid Restaurant along the highway. We just had to stop and check out the wildlife.
As you can see, big foot drivers and dinosaurs all loooove poutine!
after all that excitement, the only thing left was the final stretch between montreal & ottawa...
and we were lucky because all of the traffic was going in the other direction.
