welcome...

yellow rocket - aka wintercress (mustard family)

garlic mustard

birds!

chippy out on his front porch

out for a swim with the kid

this was supposed to be the place to see beavers... but all we saw were three cute turtles

ewww! now i understand why

a mossy microcosm

left: trillium; right: columbine

is that a sloth in the tree?... no just a porcupine

this is the flood lime kiln which is one of the few remaining examples of a 19th-century industrial lime kiln in Canada. Lime was an important building and houselhold chemical used to make mortar, fertilizer, whitewash, plaster and many other products.

enjoying the flora that stoney swamp has to offer

papa goose makes sure mama goose and the babies can get safely away as we approach

just moseying along...

left: apple tree blossom; right: hawthorn tree (notice the thorns...ouch!)

we had to take a picture of the mushrooms...
they are starting to feel left out now that all the flowers have sprung

ducks

violets

some wilderness critters!

we saw two deer that had just crossed the road. then one looked up and we realized that the baby was still on the other side!
(don't worry, it made it across safely)
