Towns

Throughout our excursions, we also had the chance to see some of the smaller towns along the way. Here are a few of the photos from some of these towns.

We arrived in Brixen at the end of our hike to [Hohe Salve] and [Filzalmsee]. Brixen is a small town right next to Westendorf.

One day Annemarie drove us to Hopfgarten which is a town neighbouring Westendorf. From here we took the gondola up to [Hohe Salve] but first we took a look around town. We went to the graveyard to see where paternal grandmother is buried. Then we walked the streets a bit and found the butcher shop, the butcher being uncle Georg. A quick hello to him and his wife and they treated us to a world class Leberkässemmel (an Austrian type of sandwich).

When we went to the [ice caves], we took a train to Werfen and before heading back home we had a chance to walk a bit through the town.

Wörgl is a larger town about 20 minutes from Westendorf and several times we had the chance to walk around a bit while waiting for a connecting train or bus.
