The City of Ottawa allows the public to schedule visits to the Fire Halls. Of course the scheduling part is somewhat irrelevant cause when you call the City, the Communications people schedule you and get all your information but then forget to 'communicate' this info to the actual people working at the Fire Hall. So you arrive and no one is expecting you. Fortunately the firemen are very friendly and as long as it's not a busy night, they seem quite happy to have visitors. This was Helena's second trip and Samantha's first trip to see a fire hall. Although shy at first, Helena really enjoyed pushing all the buttons in the firetruck and opening and closing the giant doors to the fire hall. And Rubby learned that as long as our bonfires involve food, we don't need a permit for one. (I can already imagine the 30 foot high flames with Rubby standing there holding a marshmallow stick!)
