Our first day in Cape Breton Highlands National Park started off... cloudy, windy and slightly drizzly. But, having seen the weather report ahead of time, we were prepared and had marked all the 'interior' trails without scenic views that we wanted to do first. Being early risers (thanks for the wake-up calls Samantha!) we went to have breakfast away from camp, at the La Bloc picnic site next to the ocean. Then we started our day of hiking: Corney Brook Hike, a quick lunch and hike at MacIntosh Brook, a visit to the Lone Shieling, Benjies Lake, and a walk around the bog...all before heading back to camp for dinner and bedtime.
The cormorants and gulls don't seem to mind us joining them for breakfast.
Samantha, we have to have breakfast before heading out for a hike!
Samantha wants to get a close-up view of everything.
Samantha and Rubby check out "La Bloc".

A couple of crows keep us company.
Poppa, why didn't we use this table for breakfast?
