Day 5: The Bog Walk

Samantha's first hike on her own two feet and she's picking up the pace quickly!

Cottontails in the bog.

An insect-eating plant, the horned bladderwort catches aquatic insects in tiny underwater bladder-traps. The touch of the bug triggers the trap and the bladder sucks the bug inside.

More carniverous plants... pitcher plants.

Marsh marigolds

Bog buckbean... the short growing season in the highlands means that the plant has already flowered and the yellow fruits are withereing.

More pretty flowers.

The moose must like the flowers here too... lots of moose evidence around.
