Jul 29 to Aug 12, 2006
After a very long sleepless night (the family reunion arrived at 1 am, didn't know how to whisper, and decided to party til about 3 am!), we got our money back from the Parks and headed out. We drove along the coast stopping for breakfast and the occasional geocache. When we got to Mira Provincial Park, Murielle and Bryan were already waiting for us and we set up camp next to them. In the afternoon we headed to Sydney for a pool party chez Michael and Marilee's and to celebrate a triple birthday. Finally Samantha got to meet the Cape Breton Aunt Colony (as opposed to the Cape Breton Ant Colony... *grin*).
Time for a morning shower... we need to look good for the party this afternoon!
The lookout at Cape Smokey Provincial Park.
Besides a geocache, we found another early bird in the bushes.
Are we in Nova Scotia? I thought we were in Cape Breton! ;-)
These provincial parks are really nice... this one wasn't for camping but it has a hike that we'll have to remember for the next time we come and visit.
Samantha is still too short to get much of a view from the car...
... so we had to take pictures for her.
Samantha checks out the local weather forecast.
Time for a breakfast stop.
We should have ordered Samantha her own breakfast... she ended up eating most of ours!
Is that a troll under that bridge?
Lots of pretty spots to stop and do some geocaching.
Of course we had to stop and take a picture!
We didn't stop to eat here this time but maybe we should have since we later found out there was a geocache right there!
