Day 9: Kennington Cove

Today was a beautiful day and the first place we headed to was Kennington Cove where Bryan and his family used to go on family outings when he was young. As usual, Sam had lots of fun playing in the water. Kennington Cove is part of the whole Louisbourg area and we stopped to take a look at the fort although we didn't go in (maybe one day when Sam is older we'll take the tour). There are lots of lighthouses in the area and also a lot of geocaches in very scenic spots. We scrambled over the rocks to the treasures while Murielle and Samantha took some lovely seaside strolls. In the afternoon we met up with the Aunt Colony and Company at Barbara and Allen's property on the Mira where we enjoyed the lovely company, weather, and view. We finished off our day's adventures with another little geocaching outing to Main-a-Dieu. Unfortunately we suffered a few 'Did-Not-Finds' but the amazing scenery more than made up for it. Back at the campsite, Samantha got her first taste of a real campfire.

Looks like we're the first ones to arrive at Kennington Cove this morning.

This beach is where Bryan and his family used to come on outings.

Bryan and Murielle are excited to show Samantha the beach and the waves.

This crab has seen better days.

Grandpa and Samantha enjoying the beautiful day.

The morning sun glistens on the water.

Samantha is ready to explore.

As the first puddle is discovered, the pants must come off.

Grandpa, where do you think this river goes to?

Sammy? Where did you go?! ;-)

Samantha sticks to shallower and calmer waters.

There's lots to find in the sand.

Up the creek without a paddle... but not without a feather!

Wheeee!!!!!

Oh, oh, I don't think we packed the swim diapers!...

... Then again, I don't think Samantha minded!

Sand, water and feather... ingredients for hours of fun.

Bryan and Samantha each have their own 'pool'.

Samantha finds a rock to take a rest on.

Bryan contemplating the waves.

The game of ploumps takes a new twist when the rock hits... another rock!

We're still the only ones on the beach.

Samantha shows mommy how to play ploumps.

Sandscapes.

A bird must have just gone by... I can still see its tracks.

Murielle has staked out her own piece of the beach.

The lifeguards arrive.

Samantha is determined to find the lost rock.

What's this...?

Ouch! It got me! It got me!

A grandfather-granddaughter moment.

Who's having more fun?

Seafoam!

Sammy is mesmerized.

Now we know where Sammy gets her attitude from! :)

a cute picture of Samantha having fun at Kennington Cove...

and another one...

and another one...

and another one...

ok... one last one.

Sammy watches as Grandma and Grandpa have fun in the waves.

And now it's time to head back to the car before any people show up and make us share the beach.
