Day 12: arriving in pei

Today we drove to Prince Edward Island. We crossed Confederation Bridge and stopped at the Tourist Info Complex on the other side where Rubby even got a First to Find on a new geocache. Being in the land of Lucy Maude Montgomery we stopped at Cabot Beach Provincial Campground where they filmed part of the Emily of New Moon series. A couple of geocaches allowed us to discover some spectacular beaches where Sammy had a splendid time. The weather was absolutely beautiful. Of course we couldn't make a trip to PEI without visiting Green Gables. We had intended to camp at Cavendish at the National Campground but it was full so we headed to the Cedar Dunes Provinicial Park instead. This ended up being a lot less busy, much cheaper and several highlights which included the playground and bunnies for Sam as well as an awesome full moon rising over the ocean.

Approaching Confederation Bridge to get to PEI.

More than halfway across the bridge we get a great view of the "gentle island".

A welcoming spot for people from all provinces and territories.

Sammy checks out the playground.

The visitor center when you get to PEI is a huge complex of buildings.

View of another lighthouse in the distance.

Sammy is enjoying herself.

Hmmm, with so much playground to explore, we'll never get past the visitor center!

A cross section of Confederation Bridge.

Time to get some maps.

The patchwork landscape of the PEI fields.

Some Island crafts.

A gaelic dancer amuses the tourists.

Rubby and Samantha head off to check out the lighthouse and Confederation Bridge.

Sammy is more interested in the birds than the bridge.

Rubby gets a closer clook as he searches for a geocache.

The plovers try and give Rubby some pointers on where to look.

How does the train get across the bridge with all the cars?!

Another scenic view of the bridge.

Another playground for Sammy to enjoy... it's a "bo!"
