Presqu'ile Camping Trip

September 7-9, 2007

Day 1 - Getting There and Setting Up

We decided to leave early Friday and stopped in Odessa just after Kingston to do a little geocache, have a snack and stretch our legs. We got to the campground fairly early and set up camp right away. Since the others weren't expected til a bit later, we checked out the campground a bit, took a scenic drive and managed to snag two more geocaches. By the time the others got there, Sam was starting to crash (she hadn't had a nap all day) and so she was off into the tent and her new princess sleeping bag while the rest of us cooked hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire.

Sammy is showing Christopher how to use the gps.

A scenic spot for a geocache.

Sammy is happy to get out of the car and stretch her legs a bit.

A cute little bird seems to be doing some fishing.

A quiet moment

Christopher is checking out the tent we borrowed from grandma and grandpa.

Sammy likes her new princess mattress and sleeping bag.

Presqu'ile campground is a great place for birdwatching... the heron is watching the geese.

Hi momma! Did you get the cache?

Sammy is more interested in the viewing station than the view.

Water and rocks... time to play ploumps!

This young robin wasn't shy at all.

The secret to ploumps is finding just the right rock...

...and that was a good one!

Swans

Time for another geocache.

We have a little tree hugger in our family.

Momma, look! An owl!

Christopher and Samantha wait patiently while poppa tends to his geocaching obsession.

Back to the campsite for a snack.

Christopher is pretty laid back about his first camping experience.

Story time and off to bed for Sammy.

Poppa gets the campfire going... eventually!

Big brother Keegan teaches Elijah the secrets of roasting hotdogs.
Anyone for lukewarm dogs?! ;-)
