Day 2 - july 6
fredricton & grand manan

This morning we headed to Fredericton where Rubby's uncle Roland and aunt Suzanne generously had offered to host a family get together brunch. We hadn't been camping long but I think we may have given the impression we'd been in the jungles without food for about a month by the way we dug in! ;-) Well, when food and company are good and someone else is holding the baby so your hands are free, you take the opportunity to enjoy a great meal! Thanks again to all of you for coming to meet us and a special thanks from Samantha to 'Cookie' for the great muffins!

From Fredericton we headed for the ferry to Grand Manan. A short pit stop along the highway for Sam nearly caused us to miss the boat but the guy in the booth called over to the boat and they let us squeak in behind the last truck. No sooner were we boarded than the boat took off. It was a gorgeous day albeit a bit cold on deck. We were on the lookout for whales but didn't spy any.

When we got to Grand Manan we headed to the Anchorage Provincial Park where we were allowed to pick our site. The lady there recommended we check out campsite 66 and that was the best campsite we had on the entire trip... surrounded by thick bushes with singing birds, a tiny trickle of a creek went through the campsite so on one side we pitched our tent and across the little foot bridge we had our picnic table and fire pit. The facilities were also really nice and since there were so few people camping there, the bathrooms were always impeccably clean. And Samantha quickly made friends with the bunny rabbits.
