One of Sam's memories of our last maritime vacation was getting to play at the beach, and Kennington Cove in particular is called "Grandpa's Beach" cause that's where Grandpa used to go when he was a kid. Sooo, we were happy when the weather cooperated for our outing today.
The crashing waves were amazing and once again, the beach was pretty deserted. Other than us there was only a lifeguard and one other group of teens that showed up. After splashing a bit in the waves, Sam got busy building a wonderful feather park... each feather tree was adorned with a ring (lobster claw elastics) that she found washed up on the beach and shells and driftwood were turned into a picnic table for the park. In the meantime Christopher had fun playing in the sand and getting his feet wet.
Morning at the campsite... after the party yesterday, the kids are sleeping in today.
From the beach we can see the clouds starting to lift.
On our way to the beach we stopped to smell the roses... literally!
The fortress of Louisburg...
one day when the kids are older we'll have to go and check it out.
In the meantime Rubby and Christopher are looking for a cache.
A beautiful day at Kennington Cove.
Samantha and Grandpa go to check out the waves.
Rubby is enjoying the day...
...work is already a distant memory!
Samantha is a bit daunted by the strength of the waves today.
Changed into his bathing suit, Christopher is ready to play with Grandma.
Oooh, the sand feels squishy!
The kids are having fun with Grandpa.
Wheeee!
