Winterlude

Samantha got new skates for Christmas but it's been hard finding time and good weather to go out. Today we promised Samantha she could skate on the biggest skating rink in the world. While downtown we decided to check out the ice sculptures at confederation park, including an icy replica of the Shediac lobster. And of course, no Winterlude experience would be complete without some beaver tails!

While walking from the museum to the canal, we came across this decorated tree.

Sammy is still a little unsure on her new skates
but the promise of beaver tails lures her on.

A well deserved treat... 1 cinnamon tail, 1 maple tail and 1 garlic and cheese tail.

Mom, what does the sign say?

The warm weather has wreaked havoc on the ice sculpures
but the ones under the tent are still recognizable.

A throne for an ice princess.

Welcome to winterlude.

Sammy liked Cinderella's pumpkin carriage.

Maritime lobsters don't fare too well in Ottawa...
this was all that was left of the Shediac lobster replica.

Little Blue hanging out with her penguin friends.

A hummy bird ice sculpture.

An icy crane holding up fairly well under the warm sunshine.

A swap box on Elgin Street... take somethin', leave somethin'

Christopher seems tuckered out.
