June 17 - July 14, 2009
After several days of hiking up peaks and our 'easy' day yesterday, we decided to go blueberry picking at the Auner woods today. In the morning we went to pick up Sam at Uri's where the kids played a while and we had an early lunch of Marillenknoedln (apricot dumplings). Then we headed out to the woods and found a nice patch of blueberries. Sam did a lot of picking, some eating and a LOT of talking. Christopher picked and ate until he got tired at which time Oma took him to play for a bit while we finished filling out bucket. We did get drizzled on a bit but not too badly.
We were invited to go visit Klaus in the afternoon but we decided that the kids (mostly Christopher who had not had a nap) would find a little playtime up on the mountain top playground more fun, so Rubby took off with the kids.
Luckily (!?) a giant rain cloud was headed our way... otherwise Rubby and the kids would have been gone off hiking by the time we got to the top. But this way they had stayed close to the gondola and the kids were having fun playing. When the rain started we headed inside and had cake and ice cream. By the time we were done the rain was finished and there was a beautiful rainbow. Rubby stayed to let the kids play a while longer while the others joined Klaus and Greti for a short walk.
Hmmmm, what shall we do today?
Samantha got a new book from Oma and told us all the stories that were in it.
Mmmmmm, Marillenknoedln! (apricot dumplings)
Samantha has 13 pits left on her plate... wow, how did she manage to eat so many?! ;-)
The Alpenrosen we had picked for Oma.
A cherry tree along the way.

The important thing to remember when you lose your balance
is not to drop any blueberries!

Along the marmot rallye they put up an art exhibit.
They also finished putting up the eagle's nest.
The fog is rolling in at Guggenkoegele but we wouldn't have had time to go up anyway.
We caught the lift in time to go back down.
