Aug 7: fundy weather station

another one of the many activities put on by Fundy national park is a guided tour of their weather station.

we had a little time before heading over to the weather station, so christopher picked up some garbage (one of the requirements for his level 1)

and then he puts it into the correctly coloured bin.

off we go!

the little shack with all the equipement, etc.

first we check the temperatures. different types of thermometers measure different things
(i.e. the maximum, minumum, etc.)

sam thinks that it's just warm enough!

not a crystal ball for fortune telling... but for measuring sunlight.

when there is sunlight, it goes through the ball and burns a piece of paper

not we are checking to see how much rain has fallen.

this device measure acid rain.

none today! :)
