Aug 9: playing on alma beach

khalil headed into alma this morning in order to do some laundry. he told us that sylvia and the kids headed down to the beach so we decided to head over too to see if we could find them... we never did, but we still managed to have fun.

we head down to the beach

sammy spots some shells

ducks

low tide.

sam is enjoying playing on the beach

and making footprints

some herons doing some fishing

sam is going to try and catch them

no luck.

christopher is giving me the "i want out" look

barnacles.

once we get a little further away from shore, there are lots of shells

sam is very happy with this discovery

she starts lining them up.

ta-da! (not really sure what it was)

a few more shells... and now it became a bridge.

christopher finally escapes the carrier.

christopher checks out the shells too.

they are both as happy as clams

although christopher enjoys using the shells as scoopers.

christopher wants to try out the bridge

he is satisfied.

and wanders off again.

and then back again

some horseback rider on the beach

and again, and again

time to reinforce the bridge

although it's starting to look like just a pile of shells.

i was trying to take christopher's photo...

...but he would keep closing his eyes (due to the camera's flash)

now back to work!

enough play time with the shells... lets keep exploring.

christopher is trying to keep up with sam.

but gets distracted but all the things he sees on the ocean floor.

oooh, what's that... or that?... or that?!

but he sure looked cute.

happy to be back on shore.
