One of the smaller hikes that the guardaparque had marked on our map was to a little waterfall and so we decided to check it out. There were lots of nice little wooded picnic spots in the area.
As we hiked up to the waterfall we met up with a school group coming down. They sang songs and later on we saw them do running exercises up a little sand hill. It was cute to see the local kids.
Samantha's turn... the waterfall isn't the one we've come to see though.
Pretty spring flowers.
At the trailhead of the Cascada Irigoyen trail.
Some climbing opportunities on the trail.
More holly-leaved barberry.
We enjoyed the hikes here cause the vegetation is so different from what you get on the trails at home.
There are also some strange animals around here...
Samantha taking a little break along the way as others are coming down the trail.
Some local kids on a school outing... what do you think has caught the little boy's eye?...
... it was Christopher in his back carrier!
Our first glimpse of the Irigoyen Waterfall.
Getting a closer glimpse.
P
anoramic of the Cascada Irigoyen.
Ourisia poeppigii. (aka. lágrima de la virgen (the virgin's tears)).
Samantha liked the colours of the rocks in the area.
More colourful rocks.
Looking down from the waterfall.
Back at the bottom we took some time for a snack and to play ploumps.
The kids are having fun.
Nearby there are some nice picnic spots with great views...
... and cute picnic tables!
Lush fields and beautiful spring flowers along the road.
Amazing scenery.
We were lucky with the weather!
A gaucho's horse and dogs beside the road.
And there's the gaucho!
A patagonian traffic jam.
Cows and calves. aka lomo and wiener schnitzel! ;-)
