November 6-29, 2009
The drive back to Bariloche was just as stunning as on the way in. The clouds even cleared somewhat and the blue skies with the snow topped mountains were incredible. The highlight of our trip back was an amazing rainbow that even the tour bus in front us stopped for so that everyone could get out and take pictures.
The horse decided to be stubborn and wouldn't move out of the way for the longest time.
A look back at the Manso glacier gleaming in the sunlight as we leave.
A little waterfall with the usual Ourisia poeppigii. (aka. lágrima de la virgen (the virgin's tears)).
A closer view of the flowers.
The waterfall with Cerro Tronador in the background.
Bird. (Jote Cabeza Negra?)
Basalt column cliffs.
The road back out.
These ñire trees don't have leaves yet so the growths really stand out on them.
Driving by a waterfall.
The guardaparque.
Ashy-headed goose (Chloephaga poliocephala) Argentine name: Cauquen real
Like the sign says...
For people who want to go trekking in the area they have to check in with the
gendarmerie as some of the trails cross the Argentine-Chilean border.
A beautiful rainbow to end our day.
Double rainbow! It's pretty fain, but there is a second arc.
Superbly intense colours.
Two leprechauns at the end of the rainbow. ;-)
Driving back across the beach/road.
Is there enough room between the tree and the lake...?
Stunning view of Lago Gutierrez.
Too bad we didn't have blue skies like this at Cerro Tronador!
Following the tour bus back to Bariloche.
Supper time!
