Skating on the World's Largest Skating Rink

February 20, 2010

It's now been 2 years in a row that we meet up with the bianchi-melchins for a skating day on the canal. could this be the start of an annual tradition? the kids enjoyed skating, but I think they enjoyed the beavertails even more. and for sam, getting to see the giant tiger was a highlight for her too.

getting laced up.

ready to go!

but first, they clean the ice

good timing.

some people wear funny outfits

it reminds me of the game "where's waldo?"

and they're off!

is this how they flood the ice?

sam using the wall to help balance

everyone is going pretty fast!

look up in the sky... is it a bird?...

nope, it's a helicopter

saw lots of interesting baby carriers

world's largest... it used to be longest, but that's another story.

cheese!

time to refuel with some beavertails.

mmmmmmm

finger licking good!

keep it coming!

very satisfying!

back out on the ice... we spot a tiger... a giant tiger!

a tiger that gives high fives!

and another giant tiger!
sam had actually remembered from last year (and was looking forward to) seeing the giant tiger

we take a ride on the giant tiger train!

all the kids enjoyed it!

graffiti art on ice

more graffiti art on ice

one last one.

beavertails are a very popular treat on the canal

lost children services... I wonder if they help lose children?

did I mention that some people wear strange outfits?

a little running around to collect a few more blue wire from the snow brush trucks.

and of course, on the way back to the car, rubby had to stop for a geocache
