Geocaching at Mer Bleue Conservation Area

March 20, 2010

Sam was spending time with her grandparents, so with the warm spell we've been having, we decided that it was about it that we head out and do a day of geocaching. There is a road that is now closed off to cars, but is still paved (most of the way) for about 2km. So we packed up Christopher's tricycle and headed out.

found it!

It's bigger than Christopher!

hmmm.. maybe we should follow these moose tracks to our next treasure.

ok... I'm ready!

a porcupine greets us.

I think I can... I think I can... I think I can...

phew... this is harder than it looks

here is the information... now you just have to figure out where this is!

here is where it leads you

lots of old trucks

and cars

and other things

including a washer

if you look carefully, you can spot an ammo can in this photo.

interesting marks on the trees, and something to attract whatever was making those marks.

monkey in a tree!

woo-hoo! another find!

what are these?

Nitrogen? But why?

and we discover something we never knew about.

we keep following the boardwalk

oh no... now what?

very interesting landscape

Christopher is enjoying the shoulder ride.

very pretty.

lots of scientific equipment

very weird looking

now we see why there were nitrogen tanks

Christopher has equipment coming out of his head!

one last look back

the snakes are waking up

next cache brings us along a beaver dam

the water level is about 3 feet higher than the trail

this was gnome's catapult. (although it didn't work anymore)

I'm sure it was a fun cache when it was working

milk weed

soaking up the sun

a well earned doughnut
