we headed out to orleans to do some caching along a bike trail. there were plenty of caches to be found and the kids enjoyed getting to go biking. our bike ride ended 5km down the path at petrie island. at which point rubby ran back to get the car while the kids played at the beach.
move the stick, and then close your eyes and reach in! ta-da! geocache!
looks like the flowers are starting to come out
"huflattich" is the german word for this flower, but I think it sounds like...
who farted!
sam goes and finds the cache!
sssssnakessss.
sam was going quite fast, at least on the flat streches.
hmmm.. this tree looks suspicious
yup! treasure!
now to hike back up to the path
our next find was too wet to sign!
but at least it provided us with a good spot for a snack break
and after another couple of kilometers, we arrive at the beach in time for lunch break!
lunch time over... time to play!
ploumps!
sam spotted this bug
at first we thought it was a water bug
then it got washed up on shore and managed to crawl while on its back
until it ran into this stick and flipped itself over again!
ok, back to playing in the sand.
oh no! christopher is stuck in the sand!
after being rescued from the sand trap, christopher plays on the rocks.
striking some lovely poses for the camera!
muskrat!
where did poppa go?
the duck points us the way
ah yes, there he is.
one last cache for the day and then time to head home.
and 5 minutes later... the kids are asleep in the car.
goodnight red-neck!
