Strawberry Picking

Normally we go strawberry picking on the first or second week of summer, but this year, mother nature has made everything bloom & grow a little bit earlier than usual. That being said, only about 25% of the strawberries were ripe, and we probably could have waited another week... but really... who wants to wait once strawberry season begins?
we arrive!
and are first greeted by a cat.
4 litre basket = $8.00 (but you can fill them as much as you can)
we used two 4 litre baskets... but left with about 13 litres of starwberries
(not counting the litres and litres we ate while picking!)
sam stops to check out the flowers.

off we go...
they have their own weather station.

christopher was a great picker

this was a monster of a strawberry... about the size of 6-7 strawberries stuck together
(see the regular unripe strawberry in the background... now you can see just how big it is)
i think christopher wanted to see if he could eat more strawberries than his poppa!
hmmm... maybe eating two at a time would be faster!
he's starting to look a little queezy!
sam was taking the picking very seriously this year.

we head back proud of all our "hard" work.
starwberries weren't the only thing being picked! ;)
the kids stop to say goodbye to the kitty.... now it's time to go eat lunch!?!
