I met up with Daryl (dadndaughter) to go for a canoe geocache in the ottawa river. it was a puzzle to solve, and here is the link to the geocache in question: http://coord.info/GC1C0QW. the weather and water temperature couldn't have been nicer. the entire trip was a 7km paddle.
canoe is loaded.. off we go!
we arrive at the parking lot
it's a busy spot this evening.
put the canoe down and go back to get the rest of the stuff.
some of the rocks on shore contained fossils
lots of sailboats out on the water
a quick 3.5km paddle over to the island
and we stop to enjoy the views.
not a very big island
one side had a sandy shore, the other was rocky.
we quickly find the cache.
snap a photo of our find and then explore the island.
a rock with green and blue flecks... reminded me of the rocks we found in austria
just a scenic photo
a rock with glacier scrappings?
another interesting rock
an oily looking rock... this one reminded me of the ones that we discovered in argentina!
a beacon
circling the island
one of the only motor boats we saw.
we discovered a benchmark on the top of the island.
the view from the top
daryl enjoying the calmness
now we explore the warm waters.
found my toes!
did we waymark the canoe?
one last look as we head back to the mainland
wait a second... those are not all sailboats, what is that?
not sure what to call it... but interesting.
paddling back.
and so our adventure comes to an end.
