August 7 to 29, 2010
Given that we had the use of a car again we had contemplated driving to another valley to do a hike to Tirol's only Ice and dripstone cave, but the weather forecast was really good. So we took advantage of the warm weather, dressed the kids in their bathing suits and headed to Hexenwasser, the alpine park built on the themes of witches and water. We took Annemarie's car down to Hopfgarten to catch the lift and Hansi drove Opa and Oma and left them with a "handy" (cell phone) to call him at night to pick them up again.
We stopped shortly at the top of Hohe Salve to enjoy the panoramic views and to let the kids play at the giant's playground. Then we continued on by taking another lift halfway down the other side of the mountain to get to Hexenwasser.
A tractor comes to pick up the "bio garbage" which is composted by a local farmer.
The weather is looking good up at Hohe Salve... we're headed to the other side of this mountain today.
Christopher heads straight for the trucks while the grown-ups get organized.
Saying hi to Uri on a beautiful summer morning.
At the lift station in Hopfgarten Opa immediately checks out the state of a micro geocache hidden there.
Ready... let's go!
We bought our 2 week passes today.
While we ride the lift, others have chosen a more challenging way to gt up the mountain.
A beautiful view over Westendorf and the Austrian Alps.
Hey, this TV tower wasn't here last year?!
Rubby can't wait to hike some of those peaks...
... especially the big pointy one!
Here's the reason why Hohe Salve is called "the panorama mountain"... beautiful views!
Why is this stamp always stolen?!
Christopher quickly recruits Oma to help him climb the giant's head.
A great view of the Kaisergebirge mountain range.
Taking the lift halfway down the other side of the mountain to get to Hexenwasser.
