gampenkogel and shelbyville

This morning it was pretty overcast so we were happy we had decided to let the kids spend the day with Oma and Opa while we went up to Gampenkogel. We were hoping that the clouds would dissipate throughout the day but no such luck. The light drizzle from the fog all around us and the wet terrain meant that our shoes were soaked through pretty quickly.

The original plan was to quickly peg off Gampenkogel and then continue on to Floch but given the clouds and rain we decided to leave Floch for another day and to head over to Kirchberg instead. This allowed us to collect several more hiking stamps at the alms along the way and we also got the chance to visit the Harlasanger chapel.

We were hoping to catch the Gaisberg lift down to Kirchberg but unfortunately they had closed the lift figuring they wouldn't get much business in the rain, so we ended up walking down along the winter toboggan run. From Kirchberg we took the bus back to Westendorf where we had supper at Uri's.
