August 7 to 29, 2010
After several days of heavy duty hiking the kids enjoyed a day to rest and hang out at Uri's. They spent the morning playing with Oma while we did some grocery shopping and then the guys put the tent together for Opa's retirement party the following day.
Lunch was Moosbeernocken... a tyrolean specialty which is basically a mixture made of blueberries, flour and a type of cream cheese called "Topfen" formed into a patty and fried in a pan. It looks like a blueberry burger patty sprinkled with icing sugar. Mmmmmm!
Not much happening at the outdoor concert hall in Westendorf.
We pop in at the Westendorf tourism office.
Chips and cereal... it's fun to see the slightly different twist on some regular food items.
Rubby wanted the chips but Sam was a huge fan of the cereal!
The kids are playing in Oma and Opa's room but are suddenly distracted by what's going on outside.
The men are assembling a tent out back for Opa's retirement party tomorrow!
It's lunch time and Uri has made some "Moosbeernocken"... a type of fried blueberry patty. Mmmmm!
Given that these blueberry treats stain terribly, the kids are instructed to eat them topless to cut down on laundry.
Christopher is just gobbling down these treats!
With their shirts back on the kids show off the staining power of the blueberries on their tongues.
OK, it's not just fun for the kids but for the adults too!
Opa refuses to participate in the fun games.
After lunch the kids go back to their toys...
And the men go back to their instructions.
It's starting to look like a tent!
Martin wonders what the extra parts were for...?
Samantha and Christopher come outside to quality control the tent.
All set for the party!
