August 7 to 29, 2010
Both the kids were very excited to get dressed up for Opa's party... Samantha in her "Dirndl" dress and Christopher in his "Lederhosen". They looked absolutely adorable! The party was amazing... the food provided by Georg was incredible, the tent setup, decorations and desserts provided by Annemarie were equally stunning, and the company was great. Opa basked in the limelight and the kids didn't fare too badly either, receiving presents from guests and getting to have their own little play party inside with Rubby between dinner and dessert (not to mention that they got to stay up late!)
On our way to Opa's party!
Stopping by to say hi to the little clay kitty on the way.
Posing with the "butter and eggs" flowers.
Oma and Opa look pleased as the little Austrian kids arrive for the party.
Opa and his little sweethearts.
The beer tent is still standing (what a relief!).
The tables are all set... the place looks wonderful!
Checking out Uri's geraniums.
Opa waiting for the rest of the guests to arrive.
Mustard in a tube. Yes, they're all different kinds of mustard!
Annemarie did a great job on the table decorations.
Opa is looking quite pleased!
Pretzels and beer... let's get the party started!
The kids go to check out the beer tent.
For those who prefer their beer cold...
Christopher playing with his tractor.
In his own world...
The Austrian kids.
You're not Austrian till you've got logs in your pants... and apron! ;-)
Here comes the pig! (Oma's brother owns the butcher shop in the next town)
The guests start to arrive.
The kids are excited as they get presents too!
The roasted pig is ready to be carved.
Off with it's head!
George presents Opa with the head of the pig.
When you retire in Austria you really get "ahead"! ;-)
Everyone wants to pose with Opa (or the pig?)
The kids aren't quite sure what to make of dinner.
Unphazed, Christopher grabs his fork and knife and is ready to dig in.
Opa with Marianne and ???
Everyone grabs a seat as the food is still being readied.
Christopher enjoying his special drink.
George and Astrid carve the meat and get the dumplings and sauce ready.
The long awaited retirment meal!
