Saguenay Fjord National Park 2014

August 2: Ottawa To Malbaie

today was our driving day.

our first quick stop was to do the virtual cache "PAX" in the Trois rivières area

there are so many chruches in québec... I'll just post one of them.

we stopped at the information centre in Ste-anne-de-la-pérade for lunch

in winter this town becomes an ice fishing village

lots of displays

and art/photos

this is what they fish here... the "Christmas fish"

the kids will soon find out that this is not a real restaurant.

mural on the outside wall

a fishing hut

christopher tried out his luck... the fish weren't bitting today.

not sure why the slide was closed.... looked fun.

time to eat

yum

and we even had a pie from grandma as dessert!

we left the national capital, and we are now passing through "la capitale nationale".

Montmorency Falls... we didn't stop to check them out this time.

next stop... a bakery (in fact, we would stop for all bakeries we saw during our trip)

although it's a bekry, it is quebec, so they sell beer too.
so many microbrewies in quebec... and so many crazy beers

christopher's pick

getting hungry?

ok, enough with the pictures... time to eat!

we got rain from time to time during the day... and when we got it.. it came down hard!

stopping to do an earthcache.

a bit of info about this area.

not raining now, but dark skies ahead.

found a camp site for the night... time to set up before the rain starts again.

we can see the st-lawrence from our tent.

all set up, time to go explore the campgrounds.

lots of cute decorations at the camp grounds.

the kids colouring and reading in the shelter across from our camp site

lots of birds

cedar waxwing

raspberry patches everywhere!

having fun with giant leaves

christopher takes his turn too.

a flower garden around a little pond

bathrooms

christopher hitching a ride.

you can almost always see a shipping boat going by

we didn't know that chipmunks ate bugs too.

yup more raspberries

blueberries too!

we followed a path, and this was at the end

some interesting rocks / fossils?

and even a cute little frog too.

another downpour... just in time for cooking supper.

everyone stayed dry while I cooked

the rain is stopping again.
