This trail is a short loop through an area that is representative of salt marshes around the Gulf of St. Lawrence and typical of the salt marsh habitat in Kouchibouguac National Park.

Of all the habitats along the land-sea interface the salt marsh is one of the most biologically productive. It provides important food for waterfowl during their long migrations. the limiting factor here, of course, is salt.
