July 29 to August 3, 2009
In the morning Opa and Rubby decide to explore the Little Bonnechere River by canoe while Oma took the kids to the beach. In the afternoon Samantha went fishing with Oma and Opa while Rubby stayed with Christopher for nap time. Then they all headed for the park store for an ice cream treat and to play at the park for a bit.
A little sleepyhead.
Samantha is now ready to play!
Somebody forgot to explain to the kids how a canoe works.
A duck family is out for a swim.

The canoe tour ends where the rapids start.
Floating downstream is a little easier.
The red of the cardinal flowers stands out agains the green grass.
Water lilies.
Lots of downed trees in the river make it hard to see where the canoe can get through.
Interesting patterns along the sand banks... can you see the sand face?
A close-up of the sand face.
A dragonfly hitches a ride.
It looks like a bird's house with a slide coming out of it in this tree!
Lots more schwammerl all along the riverbank.
A turtle.
Lots of Northern Map Turtles here.
The Little Bonnechere River flows out into Round Lake.
The beach.

Samantha helps out by getting water... there's a boil water advisory on at the camp.
Samantha excitedly waits as Opa gets the fishing rod ready.
Samantha has her own real fishing rod...
it's actually an ice fishing rod so it's just the right size for her.
And off they go to catch some fish!
Waiting patiently.
In the meantime Christopher has a nap in the tent.
Hmmmm, it seems someone didn't have much luck fishing today! ;-)
So how 'bout heading to the beach instead?!
Never mind... the campsite is just as fun.
A local spider with an adventurous spirit is checking out the map of Ontario.
Snuggle time paid off.
Smile!
*all* the kids have ice cream!
Rubby and Rolf have fun watching this guy who's watching the women on the beach.
Samantha climbs while Christopher relaxes on the bench.
Time for lunch... Opa puts the steaks on the grill.
Opa and Christopher wait hungrily.
Samantha is cooking up her own lunch...
