The drive leaving Bariloche to get to the Valle Encantada was very uplifting... the further east we went the better the weather and the more dramatic the scenery became. We made lots of little stops to take photos. Eventually we came to a spot along the Rio Limay where we could see a ranch of some sort across the river and we figured it must be the tourist ranch that we'd tried to contact to organize an excursion. We never did hear from them but we had a great day anyway.
Having breakfast in the morning.
As we start to head east we are pleased to see less and less clouds.
Here and there we see a few rock formations starting to crop up.
Lots more rock formations in the distance.
It's interesting to see the erosion on the hillsides where the road goes along.
The Rio Limay snakes along through the arid hills.
It never ceases to amaze us how lush the green trees along the river edges look compared to everything else.
Panoramic view... driving along the Rio Limay.
It's hard to get a sense of scale of these rocks when there's so little else in the landscape!
The tall trees give away a house nestled down by the river.
These sheep looked so cute and miniature among the giant boulders.
Massive cliffs.
Beautiful scenery.
The weather gets even more beautiful as we drive further into the Valle Encantada.
The sun and blue skies highlight the beautiful rock formations
with lots of nooks and crannies we would have loved to be able to explore.
You can have lots of fun here imagining what the rocks all look like!
Across the river seemed to be a tourist ranch of some sort.
What an amazing place this would be to stay at!
If these rocks are like "fingers", this one is being rather rude!
What's Rubby taking a picture of?
... Rock formations of course!
Beautiful flowers and scenery.
A close-up of the flowers.
Rubby and Samantha in the enchanted valley.
A cool bug that we found.
Interesting geology.
We're guessing these guys came from the ranch across the way... they looked pretty funny in their boat.
Maybe that's the only way to get over to the ranch...?!
This enchanted valley even has a fairy in it!
