We were all sad to leave Puerto Madryn today... there was still so much to see like the whales and the sea lions and we felt we could have used another couple of days in the area. But as we always tell the kids, ya this place is great, but the next place may be just as exciting... maybe more so!
Today was going to be all day driving from the eastern coast of Argentina to the western Andes of Argentina. The guide book had absolutely nothing to say about the entire stretch of highway other than a general warning that when driving through Argentina to make sure that you've got extra gas because gas stations are far and between. Fortunately we did find a little article online that talked about an area called "Los Altares" which talked of some amazing geological land formations along the way so we had something to look forward to.
As it turned out, the drive was amazing. Other than some unwarranted stress caused by Rubby trusting the GPS more than the warnings of the guidebook and a rather unpleasant stop by the gendarmerie just outside Esquel, we had a fabulous day. The weather was great and the scenery breathtaking.
