earthcache description:
"This earth cache consists of a conglomerate of sandstone and limestone. Many years of water running over this sandstone has created deep holes and crevices, some are up to 10 feet deep, and cave like depressions along the banks of this brook. This makes for a very secnic area, and is also used by swimmers, and fishermen. From time to time debris will get hung up in the waterfalls, until another rainfall to raise the water to flush it out.
Sandstone is a sedimentary rock compsed mainly of sand sized mineral or rock grains. Most sandstone is composed of quartz and or fledspar because these are the most common minerals in the Earths crust.
The rock grains are very clear in the sandstone here.
Rock formations that are primarily sandstone usually allow PERCOLATION(Concerns the movement and filtering of fluids through porous material) of water and are porous enough to store large quantities, making them valuable aquirers. Fine-grained aquifers, such as sandstone, are more apt to filter out pollutants from the surface than rocks with cracks and crevices."
