One of our planned excursions for this trip was to go do the earthcache at the Kundler Klamm (Kundler gorge). It sounded really beautiful but we were a little worried about the doability of this after having read on the earthcache logs that the gorge was temporatily closed for a while after a woman was killed by a falling rock.
But we asked around and it seemed that it had re-opened so we kept it on our list and although the weather this morning did not look the greatest, Rubby suggested it was still good to go to the gorge and that the weather would maybe improve throughout the day. He was great and we had a super day!
Here is the description of the Kundler gorge from the Tirol tourism website:
Kundler Klamm
With its towering cliffs and bizarre rocks, the idyllic Kundler gorge is an awesome sight. [...]
At the gorge’s entrance in Mühltal a well-maintained trail first descends slightly and then follows the roaring river through steep rock walls. After a short rock tunnel you pass an old, protected, beech and continue to Gasthof Maut. You reach the end of the trail, an interesting old wood bridge, after about another 400 meters. The river bed is a great source for all kinds of geologic rock types. You can have those stones turned and grinded at Tirol's only Stone Turner Workshop.

The Wildschönau Bummelzug chugs through the scenic gorge at the leisurely pace of 10 km/h. The ride takes about 20 minutes and leads past colorful flower meadows, beautiful wetlands and luxuriant forests.
