Iceland: Day 1 - Geysir

June 25, 2004

Next we went to geysir, an area of theogermal activity. The original "Geysir" is no longer active but another one ("Strokkur") is about as reliable as its american counterpart "Old Faithful". Every 5-10 minutes the water pressure would build up in it, there'd be a huge blue bubble, and it would spout water high into the air. There were also some mud pots and other geysir pools as well. Once we'd looked around, we joined Andreas for lunch in the restaurant. Granted it was a tourist spot, but we didn't expect a hamburger and fries to go for 30$ and a bowl of soup for 10$!

the sign says "little geysir"
