Iceland: Day 4 - Akranes

June 28, 2004

Our last stop for the day was a folks museum in the town of Akranes.

Exhibits included the cutter Sigurfari, a decked fishing vessel. Steinaríki Íslands is a museum housing specimens of Icelandic stones, and it also has an exhibition about the construction of the Hvalfjörður tunnel. It also houses the Icelandic Museum of Sports.

Driving back to the hotel we took the Hvalfjörður tunnel which has shortened the distance from Akranes to Reykjavík from 109 km to only 49 km.
