On route to the West Fjords we decided to take a little break and stretch our legs by a waterfall in an area shown on the map as Svínadalur. We ended up having a grand time picking through all the rocks and we found some really great specimens that even impressed the geologists at the Science Funfest here in Ottawa when we got back.
Waterfall at Svínadalur
Rubby found a really big rock
The rocks had large air bubbles with crystals forming in them.
We could have used a rock pick and done some serious mining here!
This little bird decided to raft down the brook next to us as we headed back to the car.
