Dynjandi was shown on our map as a particular point of interest. What we first saw was less than impressive but as the road wound its way down to the bottom of the cliff and we looked back up, it was clear why Dynjandi is considered the most impressive waterfall in the West Fjords. It plunges over a 100m high cliff forming a triangular cascade roughly 30 m wide at the top and 60 m at the bottom. Below the main waterfall a series of smaller chutes carries the water to the sea.
A picnic stop with really nice bathrooms and a circular wall around a sitting area provided a chance to clean up and enough wind shelter to have a warming brunch of soup, oatmeal and sandwiches.
Rubby enjoying the scenic fjords - somewhere over this edge is supposed to be the great Dynjandi waterfall.
Hmmmm... that doesn't seem that impressive.
That's more like it!

A close-up of the stunning cascades. Free shower anyone?
