We parked by the main church in Reykjavík - Hallgrímskirkja. From there we headed down to the harbour area and found a photo exhibit in a park by the same author as "Lost in Iceland", a very popular photographic book of Iceland. We really enjoyed this exhibit because it was photos of locals and their life set all around Iceland and many of the places we could now recognize.
Today was the day we finally got to go to Bæjarins Beztu, a world famous hotdog stand (Seinfeld and Bjork are 2 notables who have stood in line here!) for "einer med ollu" - a hotdog with the works. The pylsa's (hotdogs) were very yummy... we never did really figure out what the secret sauce is that Icelanders love on on their hotdogs.
We walked back to the car along a street with many shopping boutiques and then took cover from the rain by checking out the Kringlan mall where we had coffee and pastries.
We finished off our visit to Reykjavík with a walk around the Family park which also included a little zoo that we just glanced at from the outside.
Built in 1974 the architecture of Hallgrímskirkja is reminiscent of the typical basalt columns of the Icelandic landscape.
A shop window with some typical souvenirs made from lava rock.
The outdoor photo exhibit - this photo was of a woman named Petra who runs a museum of rocks and minerals in the Teigarhorn area that we'd passed through.
A starling in the city and a busy bird at the park.
Rubby wanted to check out the chicks at the family park! ;-)
